2022 marked the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, and the M4 CSL was created as a halo car to honor that legacy. CSL stands for "Competition, Sport, Lightweight" — a badge not used lightly. It connects directly to icons like:
The E9 3.0 CSL from the 1970s (the original “Batmobile”),
The E46 M3 CSL from 2003 — one of the most beloved BMWs ever.
